THE IMMERCIAL METHOD™ — GOVERNANCE & COMPLIANCE FRAMEWORK
Updated 19 August 2026
Controlled methods. Protected IP. Professional responsibility.
The Immercial Method™ provides a structured framework for MEP commercial delivery across the project lifecycle.
Its governance framework exists to protect the integrity of Immercial’s methods, templates, systems, benchmark information, rate information and associated intellectual property — while supporting their appropriate use within Immercial’s professional services and authorised environments.
Governance is designed to support four outcomes:
- Current and controlled information
- Consistent application of Immercial methods and terminology
- Protection of Immercial intellectual property
- Clear professional responsibility and specialist review
The current IMME Licence, Immercial’s Integrated Management System and any engagement-specific requirements should be read alongside this framework.
1. Version Governance
The Immercial Method™, its controlled templates, definitions and supporting commercial information are subject to version control.
Immercial controls:
- creation and release of controlled versions
- amendments and improvements
- version identification
- release information and change records
- controlled master copies
- withdrawal or replacement of superseded material where appropriate
Users should work from the current version available through an official Immercial-controlled source.
Superseded or unofficial material should not be represented as current Immercial-controlled information.
Version governance supports consistency, traceability and reliable use of the Method.
2. Brand & Identity Governance
Official IMME resources may contain identifiers including:
- document or template ID
- version number
- watermark
- copyright or licence information
- Immercial Method™ branding
Where present, these identifiers should remain visible and unchanged.
Adapted material must not be represented as an official Immercial-controlled issue unless it has been expressly approved and issued as such by Immercial.
This protects authenticity, provenance and Immercial intellectual property.
3. Method & Process Governance
The Immercial Method™ provides a structured MEP commercial methodology through which relevant information, evidence and commercial decisions can be progressively controlled.
The Method defines:
- commercial stages and relationships
- relevant terminology
- controlled records and templates
- how information progresses between stages
- expected commercial evidence
- review and governance principles
The appropriate stages should be applied in a logical sequence suited to the project, engagement and commercial issue being managed.
The Method provides structure.
Project-specific interpretation, validation and commercial judgement remain professional responsibilities.
4. Content & Evidence Governance
Immercial controls the official content and commercial logic associated with its proprietary systems and methods, including where applicable:
- templates
- benchmark information
- QSOR and rate information
- definitions
- assumptions
- checklists
- commercial workflows
- guidance
- controlled examples and reference information
Where adaptation is permitted under the current IMME Licence or an engagement-specific agreement, modified material must not be presented as an official Immercial standard or controlled IMME issue.
Evidence should also be understood in context.
Benchmark information, rate information and other commercial references support analysis and specialist review; they do not remove the requirement to assess relevance to the particular project, scope, location, timing and commercial circumstances.
5. Access Governance
Controlled IMME resources should be accessed only through:
- official Immercial websites
- the IMME Portal
- authorised Immercial systems
- approved client-delivery channels
- other channels expressly authorised by Immercial
Unauthorised re-hosting, redistribution or public republication of controlled Immercial intellectual property is not permitted except where expressly authorised.
This helps protect:
- version integrity
- source provenance
- confidentiality
- intellectual property
- access to current information
6. Use & Licence Governance
Use of Immercial intellectual property is governed by the current IMME Licence™, together with any relevant engagement-specific terms, confidentiality obligations or written permissions.
Permitted internal use or adaptation remains subject to those terms.
Unless expressly authorised, controlled IMME material must not be:
- resold
- publicly republished
- redistributed to third parties
- embedded within external commercial platforms
- represented as third-party intellectual property
- used to train or develop external AI systems
Where an engagement imposes additional confidentiality, security or document-control requirements, those requirements apply to that engagement.

7. IMME AI Governance
IMME AI is a domain-specific support capability within Immercial’s commercial delivery ecosystem.
It is designed around relevant MEP, construction and quantity-surveying knowledge and may use governed Immercial information including:
- the Immercial Method™
- controlled templates
- benchmark information
- QSOR and rate information
- commercial guidance
- relevant proprietary knowledge
IMME AI is intended to assist with activities such as:
- information retrieval
- structured analysis
- identifying relevant Immercial processes
- organising commercial information
- supporting specialist review
It is not intended to replace project-specific professional judgement.
AI-supported information must be considered in the context of the particular project and engagement.
Commercial validation, recommendation, contractual interpretation and client-facing professional responsibility remain subject to appropriate specialist review.
Immercial intellectual property must not be used to train, fine-tune or develop external or general-purpose AI systems unless expressly authorised by Immercial.
8. Improvement & Feedback Governance
The Immercial Method™ and associated systems are subject to controlled review and continual improvement.
Potential improvements may arise from:
- project experience
- specialist review
- client feedback
- identified commercial gaps
- benchmark intelligence
- system development
- changes in industry practice
- lessons learned through delivery
Feedback and suggestions may be submitted to Immercial for consideration.
Immercial determines whether changes should be incorporated following appropriate review, validation and version control.
This allows the Method to evolve without compromising governance or control.
9. Communication Governance
Relevant changes to controlled methods, systems and resources may be communicated through appropriate official Immercial channels.
This may include:
- version notices
- release notes
- change records
- methodology updates
- system updates
- guidance notes
Users and client teams should ensure that the information being relied upon is current and appropriate to their access and engagement.
10. Governance & Compliance Review
Where appropriate, Immercial may review use of controlled IMME material to confirm alignment with:
- the applicable IMME Licence
- relevant engagement requirements
- version controls
- confidentiality obligations
- intellectual-property requirements
This may include:
- confirming current version references
- checking attribution or controlled identifiers
- reviewing whether material has been represented appropriately
- confirming that adapted material is not presented as an official Immercial issue
- addressing unauthorised redistribution or misuse
The purpose of these reviews is not to create unnecessary administrative burden.
It is to protect document integrity, commercial consistency, intellectual property and appropriate professional use.
11. Professional Responsibility
The Immercial Method™, IMME Portal, templates, benchmarks, QSOR, commercial systems and IMME AI provide structured support to professional MEP commercial delivery.
They do not remove the need for appropriate:
- project knowledge
- contractual understanding
- evidence review
- commercial reasoning
- professional judgement
- specialist validation
Where Immercial is engaged to provide professional services, client-facing commercial outputs remain subject to Immercial’s delivery controls and the scope of the relevant engagement.
Technology supports the process.
The specialist service remains accountable for the professional work it delivers.
12. Relationship with the Immercial IMS
This governance framework operates alongside Immercial’s Integrated Management System.
The IMS provides the wider controlled framework for matters including:
- quality
- document control
- information security
- confidentiality
- business continuity
- professional delivery controls
- applicable policies and procedures
Governance of the Immercial Method™ should therefore be understood as part of the wider system through which Immercial controls its professional service and proprietary commercial resources.

Governance Principles
The Immercial Method™ is governed around three core principles.
CLARITY
Controlled information should have a clear source, purpose and status.

Immercial intellectual property, commercial evidence and professional outputs should be used responsibly and with appropriate specialist review.
Governance is not intended to replace commercial judgement.
